Ten Reasons to drive to New Mexico

You do not want to miss Utah on your drive to New Mexico; Moab & Arches National Park are must sees! Give yourself several days to wander through the park, cool off in the Colorado River, rent a bike in Moab and hit the trails! Only twelve hours from Truchas Peaks Place...

As you travel South you will pass by rock formations that continue to change with every mile. Don't drive at night, you will not want to miss anything!

When you stop for a picnic, remember to keep your eyes open for the small things..Here is a photo of a gorgeous Indian Paintbrush. This photo was taken at Wilson's Arch in Utah.

If your route includes Arizona, make sure to stop by the Hopi Gallery on the Navajo Indian Nation....This is a dream spirit, a Kachina from one of the local artists...
A beautiful rest stop heading south from Moab toward Four Corners.

                                                                   Wilson's Arch!

Zion National Park....Stop and soak in the river...Perfection!

We are excited to introduce additional accomodations here at Truchas Peaks Place; we now offer rooms for individuals at a nightly rate. We have two houses available, both offer different  and unique qualities to meet your desired expectations. Our Casita is beautiful, accommodations include a full kitchen, a queen size bed upstairs, and downstairs we have a daybed and a trundle. The Casita has a deck that faces the mountains, with views of horses and open fields. This is a great space to bring your canvas, have a romantic getaway, or a place to bring the family for a weekend of exploration in the Southwest. We also are offering our Opus House for families, small groups or individuals; the architecture is hand crafted, luxurious,  and there is a full yard with fruit trees. The Opus House  provides the comforts of home, it has three bedrooms, a full living room, large kitchen, two bathrooms and deck adjoined to the master bedroom. Spending time at Opus house is a gateway to both self-exploration and creativity. You can play the keyboard, star gaze from the deck, pick apples in the fall, select a book from the library, use the computer, or go for a hike and warm up by the fire.
Call us for availability of these houses, Truchas is a beautiful place to visit.

Next time you come to Truchas, I recommend driving up the State Rd. 76, pass Sipapu, and on the right hand side is a little day use area inside of Carson National Forest.. A beautiful spot to spend the day, picnic or fish. It has warmed up enough to spend the day outside without a jacket on, the sun has been blazing and the forest is full of animals. We saw a raccoon, a coyote and a large rabbit yesterday while on our stroll.
